Deluxe Apartment In The Sky

Camera: Pentax Spotmatic. Wellington Street West, Ottawa.

I am throwing down a challenge to my viewers today. As an urban planning graduate, I contend that there is not a single highrise built between the years 1950 and 1980 that can be described as beautiful, in that architecturally beautiful way. Most of them, quite frankly, look like a pile of crap and should be considered a great source of civic embarassment, worthy only of the most derisive mockery. Think you can prove me wrong? I want to see your picture of a beautiful highrise from this era. If you can prove me wrong, you will win a prize, which will be determined when I think of something truly worthy of this herculean task.

Today's shot only backs up my theory. Note the lack of use of any warm, inviting colour, or natural material that you might want to freely touch. I am off to Toronto again this week, for a doctor's appointment and a job interview, but when I get back, I will be posting more gisgusting filth from the world of highrises to spur you on. Unlike the last time I was away, I will continue to post as well.
