Serenity In An Urban Oasis

Camera: Voigtlander Bessa. Bay and Armoury.

Just west of the Eaton Centre and north of Old City Hall sits this little square. It's behind an office building on the west side, so it's a nicely enclose space where people like to have lunch and relax alongside the church that somehow escaped demolition when they built the Eaton Centre. I was through here on Monday, road testing my Voigtlander Bessa. This baby was built likely in the 1930s. It takes 120mm film, and produces 6x9cm negatives, which seem huge in comparison to 35mm. So far, I like the lens, which is an uncoated 105mm Skopar lens. It's sharp, but not too contrasty. At some point, I'll have to take it in for a tune up. When I opened the camera up, there was an exposed roll of c-22 film (they stopped making c-22 in 1977). Judging by the backing paper on it, it's more like 1950-60s era film. Given the time that this camera has probably spent sitting, it's not surprising that some of the shutter speeds seem a little off.

Colour Schemes has made yet another appearance.
